Jewellery Guide
Lab-grown or natural?
Both are real diamonds with the same sparkle and hardness. The difference is where — and how — they were formed.
Side by side
| Lab-grown diamond | Natural diamond |
|---|---|
| What it is | Real diamond, carbon crystal |
| How it forms | Grown in weeks in a controlled lab |
| Hardness | 10 on the Mohs scale |
| Looks | Identical to the eye |
| Certification | IGI / GIA / SGL report |
| Price | Typically far lower for the same size |
| Resale & buyback | Lower resale value |
Every Future Carats diamond is clearly labelled lab-grown or natural on its certificate and invoice.
Common questions
Is a lab-grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. It has the same chemical, physical and optical properties as a mined diamond. Only a gemmological lab with special equipment can tell them apart.
Will it test as a diamond?
Yes — diamond testers read lab-grown and natural diamonds the same way.
Which should I choose?
Choose lab-grown for the biggest, cleanest stone for your budget; choose natural if rarity and long-term value matter most to you.
